From August 1 to 7, Breastfeeding Week is celebrated around the world, an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of this practice, which benefits those who breastfeed, infants and the community in general. In adhesion, the Directorate of Jurisdiction of Maternity and Childhood will carry out different proposals, under the slogan chosen worldwide “Let’s promote breastfeeding, supporting, educating”.

In this framework, fountains and public buildings will be illuminated in golden yellow, a color that symbolizes breastfeeding as the most valuable food in nutrition. In addition, the Course “Promotion, protection and support for human lactation” will be launched, aimed at agents of the provincial public administration, with the aim of providing knowledge on human lactation and contributing to informed decision-making by supporting pregnant people and your families. It will take place from August 15 to 30. Interested persons may register through the CIDI-EDI platform, once the call is published.

The Maternal Neonatal Hospital will offer an extensive schedule of proposals for the community and also for its health team that will last throughout the week, it can be found on the HMN agenda

Meanwhile, on Friday, August 5, the National Directorate of Perinatal and Childhood Health invites you to participate in the virtual meeting Promote, protect and disseminate breastfeeding within the framework of the 1000-day Plan, which will take place from 10 a.m.

The activity is aimed at leaders in the field, members of perinatal services and the first level of care, directors of hospitals, family networks, community organizations, academics and scientific societies.

The objective is to share the joint work carried out with all the provinces and address, from a comprehensive perspective and as a collective act, the actions that allow chosen breastfeeding, in co-responsibility, accompanied by health teams and public policies.
