The president of the Argentine Israelite Mutual Association (AMIA), Amos Linetzky, indicated this Thursday that “there are five victims who are from the Jewish community” as a result of the fire unleashed on the seventh floor of a building located in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Recoleta, whose causes are still unknown, and for which 35 people were assisted.

“There are five victims who are from the community, it’s the first thing we know,” said Linetzky, who arrived at the scene along with other members of the community, who spoke with the head of the Buenos Aires Government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta. Meanwhile, the Jewish News Agency (AJN) reported that the deceased are members of the Jabbaz family.

“With deep regret, we express our condolences to the loved ones of the people who died in the terrible fire this morning, in the building on Ecuador Street. We wish the speedy recovery of those injured in this tragedy that saddens all of society,” AMIA said on its official Twitter account.
