Private estimates of inflation for October showed results between 6.4% and 6.9%. After two months of slowdown, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) would have returned to levels slightly higher than those of the month of September.
According to the CPI calculated by the consulting firm Orlando Ferreres & Asociados within Greater Buenos Aires, inflation in October was 6.4% per month and registered a year-on-year growth of 83.1%.
As for the main variations, the increases in the Miscellaneous Goods and Housing items stand out, registering an increase of 11.1% and 10.4% monthly, respectively, followed by Recreation, which presented a variation of 7.9%.
During October, the increase in services due to the removal of electricity and gas subsidies is one of the highest. In turn, many of these increases in public service rates determined the rise in prices in the value added chain of SMEs in the production of goods.
Also, the increase in prepaid, private schools, telephony, cable, internet, expenses, among others, had a strong impact on the inflation rate in October. According to the different surveys, food prices once again stood above the general price level. In fact, for some firms this item climbed around 7%.
