The province of Córdoba is the place with more than three million inhabitants with higher relative growth of registered employment in the private sector throughout the country. The latest data published by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security of the Nation based on information from the Argentine Integrated Pension System (SIPA) revealed that Córdoba reached the highest historical level of registered employment in the private sectorwith 531,000 workers.
If the first quarter of 2023 is compared with the first quarter of 2022, it grew by 5.3%. Meanwhile, the province of Buenos Aires grew 3.9%, the City of Buenos Aires 3.8% and Santa Fe 3.1%.
This growth in registered private employment occurs in the context that the province of Córdoba is the jurisdiction with the lowest ratio of public employment per thousand inhabitants: 56 public jobs (provincial, municipal and national) for every thousand inhabitants. While the national average is 80, in the province of Buenos Aires 68, in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires 133 and in Santa Fe 70 public employees per thousand inhabitants.
Regarding the first quarter of 2022, In the first quarter of 2023, around 27,000 new jobs registered in the private sector were created in the province. According to the latest data available by branch of activity, by the third quarter of 2022 the manufacturing industry has been generating 2 out of 10 salaried jobs and, at a similar level, are construction and commerce.
Between the three sectors, approximately 6 out of every 10 registered jobs are generated. Likewise, activities related to the knowledge economy, such as “informatics” and “research and development” also reached their maximum level of registered employment. In the first quarter of 2023, taking into account the seasonality of economic activities, an important contribution to registered employment was also observed in the food service, tourism and accommodation services sectors.
