this jThursday, July 13, the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC) revealed how much was the June 2023 inflation and how much the year-on-year came after a 7.8% rise in prices was registered in May. The data issued by the entity is that June inflation gave 6.0%. With this latest increase, the accumulated during the last twelve months reached 115.6%while so far in 2023 it registered 48.2%.
Although the numbers were known less than 24 hours ago, the country’s negotiations did not waste a minute and agreements to maintain economic stability have already been carried out. In this sense, the Ministry of Commerce agreed with the pharmaceutical sector to keep the prices of medicines below the evolution of inflation until the end of next August.

In the dialogue that Commerce maintained with the chambers of the pharmaceutical industry, the laboratories expressed their commitment to keep the prices of medicines below inflation for the next sixty days. The agreement includes prescription drugs that are marketed through pharmacies. The measure, calculates the sector, will allow pocket savings for patients and financiers of the public and private health system in the order of $7,000 million.
Even so, the Argentine Chamber of Medicinal Specialties (Caeme) indicated that each laboratory “will exercise the power to individually adhere to this initiative” and the idea is that it allows “maintaining a predictable trajectory of drug prices.”
