The Meta-owned messaging app is determined to maintain its dominant position, so throughout the past year it has been introducing improvements and new features that helped bring it closer to the features of rivals like Telegram. For now, four new features have arrived in the app, which have been published in WABetaInfo and which we will detail below.

Transfer of chats between devices

The first of these is the ability to migrate chat history from one device to another. At the moment this function is still in development, but it has already been announced and it will soon reach WhatsApp betas. For now it will only be available for Android and will be called Chat Transfer.

Report WhatsApp status to moderators

The new function will allow you to report WhatsApp statuses to the app’s moderation teams (this could already be done previously with messages). In the event that they violate the terms of use of the app, actions will be taken against the user. This feature does not influence the encryption of conversations, whether by text or voice. They also do not influence the calls made from WhatsApp or the sending of the location.

Access WhatsApp through a proxy

A proxy is a kind of intermediary that is placed between your device and the Internet. When using one of these servers, requests go through it first. It then retrieves the requested information and returns it to the user.

Mark temporary messages to save

Now, thanks to a new WhatsApp function, you can mark messages that you want to keep so they don’t disappear once the time limit has elapsed.
