The oil company YPF confirmed that starting at 08:00 this Wednesday, May 17, the price of its fuels will increase by an average of 4% throughout the country. For its part, the chain of service stations with the Puma brand also raised its prices by 4% from the same date.

This increase had been agreed upon by the Secretariats of Energy and Commerce last month, when they renewed the Fair Prices agreement with the oil sector. What has been agreed by the entities established a guideline of 4% per month in the prices of gasoline and diesel from April 15 to August 15, Election Day Simultaneous and Mandatory Open Primary (PASO). This was signed by the main companies in the sector: YPF, PAE (for the Axion brand), Raízen (Shell) and Trafigura (Puma).

“We understand that this requires effort from companies, the State is already making an effort to contain prices and anchor inflationary expectations so that this does not have an effect on prices and on people’s pockets,” he said. Flavia Royonthe Secretary of Energy after signing the agreement.

It should be noted that the Ministry of Economy on Tuesday called a meeting with oil company executives to analyze the operation of the market, which had promised to increase the cost of the product. After the meeting file, they authorized this new rise. The directors of the companies were summoned to the Palacio de Hacienda to “share” the current market situation and for the oil companies to report what is the delay in prices to the public against import parity, as well as to evaluate the impact of any measure in the activity.
