As of this Thursday, the increase from 35% to 45% on account of taxes on Income and on Personal Assets, for operations with cards destined for consumption in dollars in travel and expenses abroad, comes into force. The increase was announced by the National Government last Wednesday night and made official today by the Federal Administration of Public Revenues (Afip), through general resolution 5232/2022

“The update reaches the consumption of foreign currency for travel and expenses abroad. The regulations exclude purchases of foreign currency for hoarding, which will continue at 35%,” said Afip.

The body in charge of Mercedes Marcó del Pont justified the announcement by implementing “measures aimed at strengthening the fiscal front based on the manifestation of the taxpaying capacity of different economic sectors.”

In addition, the statement stated that the resolution is taken “with the aim of sustaining the redistributive impulse of fiscal policy and in the face of the manifestation of the taxpaying capacity of different economic sectors, fundamentally those that can carry out certain expenses in foreign currency.”
