This Sunday the provincial elections were held in La Rioja to define the governor and other positions. Ricardo Quintela obtained 50% of the votes and in this way, he will continue to command the province for four more years.

One of the surprises of the night was Martín Menem, Carlos Menem’s nephew and La Libertad Avanza candidate, with the support of Javier Milei. The first rumors suggested that the libertarian would be in second place, however, once the official data was published, Menem was in third place.

Felipe Álvarez, candidate of Together for Change, received the 31% of the votes, while La Libertad Avanza obtained the 15.56%, receiving more than 30,000 votes. After acknowledging his defeat, Menem posted on his social networks and celebrated the growth of his party in the last two years.
