Journalist accused of threatening a former Miss Universe Argentina
Local journalist Ignacio “Nacho” Morero has been charged by the Justice of Jesús María for the crime of “threats classified by anonymity” towards Alina Akselrad, former Miss Universe Argentina. The case, which reportedly occurred in 2019, has been brought to trial and is expected to take place in an “oral and public” process. The Accusation Chamber, headed by prosecutor Guillermo Monti, ratified all the investigations carried out during the Investigation stage. Fernando Moyano, Akselrad’s lawyer, affirmed that the facts are proven and described Morero’s actions as “criminal.”

“He intimidated and intimidated my client, threatening her anonymously, which has caused her enormous discomfort and all this has been reflected in the factual platform”Moyano said. In addition, he expressed that they are waiting for the trial date. The case of threats by the journalist from Córdoba against Alina Akselrad would have occurred in March 2019, when Morero made multiple threatening phone calls to the former Miss Universe candidate. In one of the calls, the defendant was accompanied and they also threatened the victim’s mother, Silvia Toraño.

“We are going to burn your face with acid. Think if you are going to continue in the reign, because I do not know how much longer you are going to continue with that face”, was one of the threatening phrases Alina Akselrad received. For her part, Alina’s mother also received a threat: “Enjoy your daughter’s face, because it’s going to be on the floor when we throw acid on her face; you’ll see”.
Days later, Silvia Toraño received another communication in which a man told her: “Fat shit, tonight you are going to bathe with cold water because I cut off your gas”. Later, he discovered that the gas bottle had been opened until it was empty. According to the case file, days after the audio recordings of the threats were broadcast, Ignacio Morero contacted Silvia Toraño to apologize, acknowledging having made the calls and arguing that it was a “silly joke”.
