May 5 marks World Celiac Day. celiac disease is a autoimmune disease caused by a reaction to gluten, protein that is in certain foods such as wheat, oats, barley and rye (TACC). The day was instituted in order to raise awareness in the community about this pathology and promote the search for solutions.

It is believed that in Argentina 1 in 160 people is celiac, which would cover between 0.6% and 2% of the population. I know some symptoms:

  • -Nausea and vomiting
  • -Chronic diarrhea
  • -Weight loss for no apparent reason
  • -Decreased appetite
  • -Abdominal pain
  • -Bloating or gas
