Luiz Lula da Silva will assume the presidency of Brazil this Sunday, amid growing political and social tension. The president-elect has been the victim of several failed attempts at attacks during the swearing-in ceremony by Bolsonaro supporters. In this context, the Brasilia police have mobilized 100% of the police forces to the streets of the city.
The official ceremony will begin at 2:30 p.m. local time (5:30 p.m. GMT), when Lula will arrive at one end of the Esplanade of the Ministries, a place where the congregation of at least 300,000 people is expected. The new president of Brazil will take a tour in a vehicle, accompanied by his wife, Rosângela “Janja” da Silva.
