The Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, met this Thursday with Dilma Rousseff, the president of the New Development Bank, to reach a financial agreement that allows the BRICS to invest in the country. The BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) are the alliance that created the New Development Bank.
The meeting with Rousseff was held after Fernando Haddad, Brazil’s Finance Minister, said that there was no time to meet last Tuesday for the NDB to discuss Argentina’s request. The central axis of the meeting is to guarantee imports from Brazil.
“The issue of expanding membership can reinforce the bank’s global role and decisively broaden its portfolio of sustainable development possibilities,” Haddad said.
“In the Ministry of Finance we work day and night to support Argentina. And I firmly believe that the New Development Bank is part of the solution”, he deepened.
