The presidential candidate of La Libertad Avanza (LLA), javier mileiwas rebuked by relatives of victims of the AMIA attack for his negative vote on the initiative that entered the National Congress to declare July 18 as a day of national mourning.

The libertarian was accompanied by his sister, Karina Mileyand the pre-candidate for Buenos Aires head of government of La Libertad Avanza, Ramiro Marrawhen he received questions after the ceremony for the 29th anniversary of the attack.

Recently, the pre-candidate for president requested to change his votes after rejecting a benefit for retirees and a tribute to the victims of the attack in the last legislative session. Four days after the vote, he wrote a formal note to the head of the Chamber of Deputies, Cecilia Moreau, asking to modify his decisions.

In the letter, Javier Milei stated his “affirmative vote in relation to two files in particular”, referring to the elimination of the proof of life for retirees and pensioners and the declaration of July 18 as a “day of national mourning”, in homage to the victims of the attack against the AMIA.

From the Chamber of Deputies they maintained that “an observation can be added to the minutes for auditing, but not modify the direction of the vote“. In this sense, under the minutes, the aggregate will be recorded in observations, but there will be no modification of the vote.

German Martinez, the head of the Unión por la Patria bloc, published on his social networks that the libertarian’s request “is incorrect” and stressed that “you cannot change the direction of voting for a law, no matter how many notes you send to the Presidency of the body”. He ended by stating that “It is important to: 1) go to the sessions; 2) know what is being voted; 3) be attentive when voting“.

Despite having tried to change the course of her position, Milei confirmed that she was “in disagreement with regard to the treatment and accelerated approval in a ‘package’ mode of different files” within the Chamber and “waits for it to be considered.” (NA)

The Delegation of Argentine Israelite Associations (DAIA)issued a harsh statement of repudiation, after the final results of the House vote against the libertarian group were announced, despite wanting to change their vote.

“DAIA deplores the negative votes of the deputies of Libertad Avanza, Javier Milei and Victoria Villaruel; and the abstentions of Nicolás del Caño, Romina del Pla; Alejandro Vilca and Myriam Bregman, of the Left Front; Mónica Frade, of the Coalition Cívica; and Paula Omodeo, from Creo Tucumán”.
