As of today Netflix has around 222 million subscribers worldwide and according to company estimates, some 100 million households would be using the service through a shared password.

From the company, until now they ignored this situation, however it seems that this could change soon.

In March Netflix began charging an additional fee in the countries of Chile, Costa Rica and Peru to those who share their password with people who do not live in the same house as the owner.

After the circulation that the same policy could be applied in all the countries that use the platform, the shares of Netflix fell by 47%.
