The creators of one of the most watched series on the Netflix platform announced that there will not be a second season. In the last few hours it became known that Netflix decided to cancel the production of the series “1899”, therefore fans will have to settle for only the eight chapters that make up the first installment.

Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friesea, the minds behind Dark, had high expectations for this new creation. However, they announced through a statement shared on their social networks that they decided that the series would not be renewed: “It is with a heavy heart that we have to tell you that 1899 will not be renewed. We would have loved to end this incredible journey with a second and third season like we did with Dark. But sometimes things don’t go as planned. This is life. We know this will disappoint millions of fans. But we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being part of this wonderful adventure. We love. Never forget it”.

At the moment, the exact reasons that led the creators to make this decision are unknown. The series had been one of the most ambitious projects that the platform had during 2022 and that met the expectations of the producers regarding the number of visits it had achieved within the platform. This production had been approved after the success of the suspense and science fiction story titled Dark, starring Louis Hofmann, in 2017.
