President Alberto Fernández handed over the head of the bloc of national deputies of the Frente de Todos (FdT), Germán Martínez; and to the head of the Impeachment Committee of the Lower House, Carolina Gaillard, the request for impeachment against the Supreme Court that she is promoting together with governors and required her “prompt legislative treatment.”

Fernández delivered to the official legislators the document of more than 30 pages publicly anticipated on Tuesday during a meeting held at the Olivos Residence.

Meanwhile, FdT governors, officials and legislators supported the request for impeachment against the president of the Court, Horacio Rosatti, and the judges of that court Carlos Rosenkrantz, Ricardo Lorenzetti and Juan Carlos Maqueda, considering that there are “excess elements such as to move forward” in that process.

The statement released by the Presidency jointly promotes the impeachment of the four members of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, under the accusation of “poor performance of their duties” and “manifest partiality” when issuing rulings.

The signatures of the governors Axel Kicillof (Buenos Aires); Raúl Jalil (Catamarca); Jorge Capitanich (Chaco); Mariano Arcioni (Chubut); Gustavo Bordet (Between Rivers); Gildo Insfrán (Formosa); Sergio Ziliotto (La Pampa); Ricardo Quintela (La Rioja); Alicia Kirchner (Santa Cruz); Gerardo Zamora (Santiago del Estero); Gustavo Melella (Tierra del Fuego), and Osvaldo Jaldo (Tucumán).

In the request for impeachment, the President and the governors warn of the risk of a “government of the judges” and accused the members of the Court of “arbitrarily invading the spheres of the exclusive and excluding powers of the other powers ” of the State, seriously affecting “governance and institutional stability”.

In the letter they extensively review what they consider to be irregular actions of the highest court, such as the recent injunction that benefited the city of Buenos Aires regarding co-participating funds.
