The National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC) announced on Tuesday that the salary index in the month of March increased by 7.5% compared to February of the current year. On a year-on-year basis (compared to the same month of the previous year), the total increase was 55.8%, while the accumulated increase in the first quarter was 14.9%.

The public sector was the one that experienced the greatest increase: during the third month of the year, it obtained a rise of 12.1%, while the accumulated increase is 18.1% and at a year-on-year level, 63.8%. The registered private sector, on the other hand, had a much less significant increase: 5.4% in March and 56.4% year-on-year.

This measurement “estimates, from the comparison of successive months, the variations in wages in both the public and private sectors in each month.”
