This Friday, the trial investigating the femicide of Cecilia Basaldúa will resume. The 35-year-old woman was raped and murdered in April 2020 in Capilla del Monte.

On May 21, the Court had made the decision to suspend the hearings due to the appearance and expert opinion of new evidence provided by the complaint. Basaldúa’s family maintains that the complaint made two years ago by the owner of a field near the place where the body appeared was never investigated.

Said complaint was made by the owner of the land on May 15, 2020, in which he warned about the discovery of a mattress with blood. This fact was not investigated by the prosecutor and therefore,The Chamber decided to order the DNA analysis of the blood found with Cecilia’s brothers.

The prosecution of the trial will have to determine whether or not it is related to the femicide under investigation.
