Almost ten days after the 2022 digital census began, there are already 2,350,000 people who were registered. This is the data provided in more than 845 thousand homes that are in a position to deliver their unique alphanumeric code to the census takers on May 18. In addition, it was reported that more than 1 million private homes have already entered the website.
The director of the Indec, Marco Lavagna, celebrated the pace it is leading. “We notice that there is great enthusiasm among the citizens, who are anticipating May 18 quickly and safely. And we see federal involvement, with great strides across the country,” he said.
It should be remembered that the digital census for private homes was enabled on Wednesday, March 16 and will be available until Wednesday, May 18 at 8, when the face-to-face survey will begin in all homes in the country. To facilitate the house-to-house census, the government declared a national holiday for that day.

People who have already been registered within this period because they opted for the digital modality, must save the alphanumeric code of the proof of completion that appears on the screen at the end of the entire questionnaire to present it to the census taker on May 18. On the other hand, people who have not completed the digital census of their homes will have to answer the traditional interview in person.
In addition to the survey in private homes, three other special operations will be carried out to account for the entire population of the country.
To census collective housing (boarding schools; barracks; health establishments; homes for children and adolescents; homes for the elderly; homes for religious; and prisons, among others), a bimodal survey (face-to-face and digital) will be carried out between the Monday May 9 and Tuesday May 17.
“That Monday, the census takers will go through all the collective housing in the country to contact those in charge. The procedure will be explained to them and their contact information will be taken, which will be sent to INDEC to manage the unique housing code of the Census. digital, if they prefer. People who live in collective housing should not be registered digitally with the questionnaire for private housing, “explained the INDEC in the statement.
During this period, an operational presence will also be carried out for the case of homes in rural areas, although in mountainous areas of the Patagonia region and the province of Mendoza it will be carried out at the end of April. In any case, the people who live in these areas can be registered digitally through the “Manual entry” option, which is available on the geographic location screen prior to generating the unique housing code.
