The Municipality of Córdoba presented “Soup of Letters”, a program that includes the delivery of children’s and youth books, board games and artistic elements to dining rooms and picnic areas in the city, with the aim of promoting spaces that stimulate reading and position it as a playful moment for children.

The program is carried out from the Secretariat of Social Policies, Inclusion and Coexistence; in coordination with the Córdoba Culture Agency and the Ministry of Culture and Youth; and the collaboration of the Center for Dissemination and Research of Children’s and Young People’s Literature (CEDILIJ), and is part of the “Cared Childhoods” program, Municipal Program for Accompaniment to Community Spaces that work on feeding and caring for Children.

As reported by the municipality, board games and artistic elements are made of wood by the Robi Santucho Ltda. Works and Maintenance cooperative, of the social economy.

The workshops are in charge of the Center for Dissemination and Research of Children’s and Youth Literature (CEDILIJ), the most important institution in Argentina in research and dissemination of youth literature. CEDILIJ is a Non-Profit Civil Organization that was founded in Córdoba in 1983 by a group of professionals linked to Literature, Art and Childhood, whose objective is to promote the formation of children and young readers from Literature.

The Secretary of Social Policies, Inclusion and Coexistence, Raúl La Cava, stated: “the more we read, the more access to knowledge we will have. This is a decision of the current administration that is committed to community development as an essential way to strengthen ties with sectors linked to community work.”
