Around 3,000 passengers were affected by a strike at the Jorge Newbery Metropolitan Airport where at least 20 flights from the JetSmart, Latam and FlyBondi companies were canceled or delayed due to the union’s forceful measure this Tuesday night.
The Intercargo company, after 9:30 p.m., announced that the strike had been lifted and that the union was summoned for a meeting at the Ministry of Labor.
WHAT DID THE AIRLINES SAY?
From jet smart announced that, as of 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 20 flights had been cancelled, affecting nearly 3,300 passengers after the measure by the company that provides the ramp service. “The affected flights are not only those of Aeroparque, but flights from Salta to Mendoza and from Bariloche to Mendoza were also cancelled.”
For his part, FlyBondi reported that “due to the surprise force measure carried out by InterCargo workers, their flights suffer delays in departure from Aeroparque and in the delivery of luggage for those passengers who land at the Jorge Newbery Airport.”
“So far the delayed flights are: 5060 Buenos Aires – Mendoza, 5104 Buenos Aires – Puerto Iguazú and 5190 Buenos Aires – Bariloche. Likewise, and given that the company has its own ramp service in the rest of the country’s airports in which it operates, the other flights are not being affected and it provides its service normally”.

Although, the union measure also affected the Bariloche Airport where Intercargo does not provide its services to JetSmart, but from the entity they said “The union of aeronautical personnel Association of Aeronautical Personnel (APA) took a forceful measure against the company Swissport. It originates from the affiliation claim of Swissport personnel who provide services on domestic flights” (Jet Smart and Latam).
“The Intercargo company submitted to the Ministry of Labor the request for mandatory conciliation on May 24, June 7 and again today July 11, so we are waiting for the issuance of the same.”
They detailed from Intercargo awaiting a response from Kelly Olmos, Minister of Labor
FlyBondi, in turn, published: “We recommend entering the FlyBondi company website in the ‘My reservation’ section, to check the status of your flight or on the official website of Aeropuertos Argentina 2000. We regret the inconvenience caused to our passengers due to forceful measures that were adopted irrationally and without the slightest consideration of the negative impact they generate”. In the same way, Latam and JetSmart did it on their official sites.
