The National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology (Anmat) ordered this Tuesday the prohibition of all advertising, promotion and / or sponsorship of packaged food and beverages aimed at children and adolescents that contain at least one warning seal or precautionary legends on sweeteners and/or caffeine, within the framework of the implementation of the Law for the Promotion of Healthy Food, known as the front labeling law.

Through provision 6924/2022, published in the Official Gazette, the regulation of “all advertising, promotion and/or sponsorship addressed to the public and disseminated in traditional and digital mass media of packaged non-alcoholic foods and beverages that contain at least one warning seal (including precautionary legends about sweeteners and/or caffeine), are domestic or imported.

On the other hand, for the rest of the food and beverages aimed at the general public, the regulatory authority established that advertising, promotion and/or sponsorship should aim at “proper consumption of the product, presenting its properties objectively without deception or misunderstanding, providing truthful, precise and clear information”.

Also, it is established that advertisements must include the “sales name and trade name of the product”while they have to “Incorporate in its entirety the corresponding warning seals and/or precautionary legends”. The black warning stamps must be inserted in such a way that they are easy to read and contrast with the background of the advertisement.
