On Saturday, July 23, the National Directorate of Sites and Spaces of Memory of the Human Rights Secretariat of the Nation will mark the home of Fructuoso Rivera 1035, in whose subsoil a magnificent clandestine printing press of the Workers’ Revolutionary Party (PRT) operated between 1974 and 1976. After its “fall”, until 1979 this house was used by State terrorism as a clandestine center for detention and torture.
Since 2019, after years of battling between courts, a militant group managed to recover the house and, between maintenance and recovery works, rebuild it in the heart of the Observatory neighborhood as “Roberto Matthews People’s Printing House”: a living testimony of the resistance to the dictatorship and accompaniment of the struggles of the present.
