The new gas and electricity consumption subsidy scheme will be announced today, with which it expects to save some $110,000 million in the last four months of the year. This was indicated by official sources, who said that the announcement is scheduled for this Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy.
The Ministry of Energy will provide the details of the new scheme, which includes segmentation according to user income, with a differentiation by region of the country, and a reference cap to encourage efficiency and energy savings. The implementation of this system is key to achieving a reduction in the fiscal deficit.
The scheme will also include specifications about segmentation and the consumption ceiling by area and sector, also taking into account factors such as climate. From Economy they explained that the segmentation and the subsidy ceiling will have a “federal criterion with climate understanding”.
Regarding the caps, the new values will start from maintaining the current rate at levels 2 (lower income) and 3 (medium income). Consumption that exceeds 400 kWh will not be subsidized, although it has yet to be specified whether this limit will be bimonthly or monthly.
