The Senate of the Nation will hold a special session this Thursday at 11 to approve a draft declaration in repudiation of the attack against Vice President Cristina Fernández. The call was made at the request of the official interbloc of the Frente de Todos and bears the signature of the provisional president of the Senate, Claudia Ledesma Abdala de Zamora, from Santiago.

The intention of the first minority caucus is to achieve a document similar to the one issued on the same day of the attack when they had the support of senators from Together for Change.

The original intention was that the senators hold the session last Tuesday, but they had to give a margin of a few days for the legislators to travel to the Federal Capital. This, considering that the ruling party requires all its members to guarantee the necessary quorum to develop the debate. For this reason, the presence of the senator from San Luis, Adolfo Rodríguez Saá, is decisive, who confirmed his presence while he is recovering from pneumonia.

But when the call was made known, the members of Together for Change issued a statement in which they stated that they would not attend the special session so as “not to endorse the political-partisan use of Congress.”
