On this date, the Day of the Master Gardener is commemorated in our country. The truth is that May 28 is celebrated in honor of Rosario Vera Peñaloza, an outstanding Riojan educator and pedagogue who passed away on a day like today in 1950.

This teacher was in charge of founding the first Argentine kindergarten, which is currently part of the first level of our educational system. The National Council of Education entrusted him with the creation of the First Argentine Museum for Primary School, today the Museological Complex of the Félix Bernasconi Institute.

Peñaloza passed away at the age of 77, and in his memory the “National Day of the Kindergartens” and “Day of the Master Gardener” are celebrated in Argentina.
