“On the occasion of celebrating four decades since its first edition, the most convening meeting of the Cordoba cultural agenda, which not only represents a great attraction for national and regional tourism that visits this city, but also generates an important movement of the local economy , has planned the presence of important references of regional crafts, as well as the incorporation of new spaces such as an art gallery and renewed urban design proposals”advanced Ernesto Halac, director of Modus, the organizing company of the fair.

40 years are celebrated with great news

On this occasion, the public will be able to enjoy a circuit integrated by more than 350 artisans from different Argentine provinces and South American countrieswho add up new additions and creations from Jujuy, Catamarca, Entre Ríos, Salta, La Rioja and the interior of Córdoba, in addition to the participation of representatives of the native communities of Chaco who will present their work in basketry. The presence of referents from Peru, Bolivia, Colombia and Chile is also confirmed.

This map of artisan exhibitors, who define themselves as those who transform the raw material through different manual skills or techniques printing a personal stamp and giving rise to products intended to fulfill a function that, with aesthetic criteria, reveal the personality of an individual or the characteristics of a group or region, different categories stand out, to which this circuit is accustomed, such as saddlery , basketry, ceramics, glass fusion, metal, papier-mâché, stone, leather, fabric, weaving, rope, crochet, fur, filigree, wrought iron, horn and bone, batik, enamel and mosaic, among others.

“After an intense control process and motivated by the forty years of our beloved fair that was born with the aim of revaluing and rescuing traditional knowledge and trades that have gradually been lost over time, this year we add large artisan productions of high quality, originality and trajectory, as well as new incorporations that represent different places in Argentina and the region”commented the architect Diana Cohen, one of the members of the jury.

“This event ponders the artisan and his work, who, during which, shows his work live so that visitors can appreciate the process and the journey to reach the final product. In this way, it is possible to raise awareness about the effort that this implies and in some way help these people to live on what they love and can continue transmitting this knowledge from generation to generation.”Cohen added.

It should be noted that, as in previous years, this time there will be a pavilion for the urban space that will add more than 150 exhibitors who, in this case, are based on taking a pre-existing product and adding value through design criteria, or making crafts created from a processed or prefabricated raw material. The items and materials that make up these objects that cover categories such as clothing, decoration, accessories, curiosities, toys, candles, jewelry and furniture, among others, include leather, ceramics and metal, among others.

In addition, in the next edition it is contemplated the commercial space with a wide range of proposals for preserves, clothing, food and sausages, among other products, as well as the outdoor property with a dozen food truck to taste hamburgers, shawarma, fries, snacks, beer, coffee and ice cream, among other alternatives.

As a great novelty of the 40th edition of the fair, it adds to the proposal, Art Factory Cordobathe democratic and federal emerging art gallery that promotes artists who do not have visibility and to date brings together more than 150 artists and has sold more than 85 works.

“This year we decided to redouble the bet and we have set ourselves the first goal, to get the work of our artists to the largest possible audience. We believe that art should be open to all segments of society, however it does not have the same reach as lyrics or music, and it is largely due to the myth that it is for the chosen or for those who understand it. For this reason, our participation in the fair is a unique opportunity to bring art closer to a massive group of people who year after year congregate in the city of Córdoba around an event declared of tourist interest by the provincial government”expressed Andrea Degiacomo, promoter of Art Factory Córdoba.
