Sergio Massa, head of the Palacio de Hacienda, anticipated that inflation in December 2022 ended below the 5% as happened in November, when the Consumer Price Index (CPI) gave the 4.9%
“December, according to the projection of the Secretariat of Economic Programming, would also be with the fourth ahead. Let’s see when INDEC publishes”, Massa said in an interview published by the newspaper Perfil.
And he added: “Exactly, that was the goal we set ourselves. We started with the inflation that was in 7.4% and in the first sixty days we parked in the 6% 6.4%, 6.3%”. In this regard, he said that in the Economy “we aspired for November and December to come to a standstill with the 5%”.
“And in January try to park around 5%. The November number caught our attention because it occurred mainly in food and clothing, which were the two most important agreements that we closed, a very strong slowdown”he explained.
Massa further said that “That somehow allows us to show that November ends with 4.9% and that December, according to the projection of the Secretariat of Economic Programming, would also be with the fourth ahead”.
“We will see when the INDEC publishes”said the official, recalling that the official data will be known next Thursday, January 12. At the same time in Córdoba, the Center for Grocers and Retailers released its survey with inflation for December 5.37%.
