In Colonia Caroya, the Ministry of Environment carried out an educational day in which students, teachers and the educational community of IPEM No. 165 Presbítero José Bonoris participated, during the morning, and IPEM 349 Giovanni Bosco, during the course of the afternoon. The event was organized around the problem of urban solid waste, in tune with World Environment Day, whose call focused on the solutions to pollution by plastic waste.
The day included training and workshops, which were developed simultaneously, on energy efficiency and daily life, composting and gardening, school projects and environmental legislation, Sustainable Development Goals, among other contents. In addition, different playful activities were carried out so that students could incorporate concepts on circular economy and separation at sourcethrough play and recreation.
In parallel, in cliffs a was made afforestation of 1000 native trees, in which 360 students of initial, primary and secondary level of the Pio XII Parish Institute, the 25 de Mayo Garden and the PROA School participated. The educational community of the Faculty of Agronomy, the National University of Córdoba, and residents of the city were also present. In the traveling tent there were games and activities for children, and seed kits, seedlings of native species and reusable bags were delivered. In addition, the minors transferred carob trees to larger containers, and learned about the importance of trees to care for ecosystems and improve our quality of life.
In Ceballos River, agents of the Environmental Police, the body in charge of the control and supervision of water-environmental matters throughout the province, carried out a release of birds together with members of the educational community Constancio C. Vigil. They spoke with students and teachers about the rehabilitation process of the 44 specimens that were rescued from captivity in different procedures and that, after recovering in the Tatú Carreta de Casa Grande Reserve, were able to return to nature. They also discussed the reasons why it is forbidden to have wild animals as pets and the importance of protecting natural areas so that they can live in freedom.
These events are part of a series of activities that will take place throughout the week, with the aim of generating environmental awareness and promoting transformative actions throughout the province, involving all sectors of society. This year marks the 50th anniversary of World Environment Dayfirst established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972. Since then, this date has become the largest global platform for environmental disclosure.
