The Argentine Industrial Union (UIA) criticized the new obstacles for companies to access foreign currency in order to pay for imports and emphasized that “production cannot and should not be stopped.”

“Production should not and cannot be stopped, if the production process is stopped, reactivation cannot take place,” said the entity’s president, Daniel Funes de Rioja.

In radio statements, the industrialist questioned the measures that were announced first thing in the morning by the BCRA, by which companies must seek their own source of financing to bring supplies from abroad.

Given the delicate situation, and after meeting with Funes de Rioja, the head of the monetary authority, Miguel Pesce, accepted the formation of a dialogue table with the industrial sector “to improve the regulation on the payment of imports.”
