More than 25 piquetero organizations met with the workers’ centrals of the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) and the Autonomous Central of Workers of Argentina (CTA) to demand a general strike.
The Piquetera Unit maintains that this measure is due to the constant rise in the prices of the products of the basic family basket and the consequent triggered inflation, among other points. “We are going to present to them the need for the unions and centrals to establish a list of claims against the adjustment that we workers suffer, promoted by the Government and the International Monetary Fund (IMF)”indicated the leaders.
However, the CGT refrains for now from carrying out a stoppage of all activities. “We have to help, discuss everything that needs to be discussed with the government to see how the popular field moves forward. You have to measure, you have to see how. I am not in favor of extreme measures without exhausting everything that needs to be exhausted,” he said. Omar Plaini, head of the guild of the Canillitas.
