The official cast of the Libertador theater are rehearsing at full speed, facing a grid that has them as protagonists. Classical music, choral gatherings, solidarity concerts, symphonic concerts for boys and girls, tango, contemporary dance and the revival – at the request of the public – of the ballet “Swan Lake”, make up the billboard for the month of July.
The talented De Caro
We begin with a genre that identifies our culture of popular tradition: the tango. Citizen music presents two attractive programs. On Friday 1, at 20, the Provincial Orchestra of Citizen Music performs “Decarean Lineage. The music of the brothers Julio and Francisco De Caro”, artists who contributed with elegance and a refined sound to the evolution of the genre. With performances by Mery Murúa and Gustavo Visentín, choreographies by the couple formed by Silvia and Walter and directed by maestro Damián Torres.

The evils of tango
Members of the Cordoba Symphony Orchestra and the Provincial Chamber Choir Together with Damián Torres Quinteto and the singer Gustavo Visentín they present «Los sins capitales – 7 vices tangueros». The show is on Saturday the 23rd, at 8 pm. The music is by Damián Torres himself, a notable bandoneonist and composer, while the texts are by Dante Ascaino. The Infierno de Dante shadow theater also participates in the show, under the general direction of maestro Santiago Ruíz, as a guest.

music to warm up
With the purpose of collecting coats for homeless people, on Thursday 7, at 8:00 p.m., a solidarity concert will be held at the Basílica Nuestra Señora de la Merced, on 25 de Mayo corner of Rivadavia. The Municipal String Orchestra of Córdoba, the Choir of the Singing Seminary of the Teatro del Libertador and the Orfeón de la Cantoría de la Merced, participate in the concert.
The repertoire includes “Misa VI”, by the composer, Beatriz Corona, in addition to the series of six songs “Indianas”, by the Argentine composer Carlos Guastavino. Also, an “Ave Maria”, from the same Crown. In addition, a version of “Balada para un loco”, by Horacio Ferrer and Astor Piazzolla, with arrangements by Manuel and Santiago Ruíz. The direction of the string orchestra and the choral group formed for this purpose is in the hands of maestro Santiago Ruíz, while the direction of the choir of the seminary of the Teatro del Libertador is by maestro Matías Saccone. In this performance, the solo voices of the soprano Pía Gray and the baritone Roy David Pullen stand out.

Children’s Book Fair
On Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13, at 3 and 6 p.m., at the Córdoba Cultural Center -Av. Poeta Lugones 401- instrumental ensembles of the Youth Academic Orchestra are presented within the framework of the XIII Children’s Book Fair. Admission is free for both performances and tickets can be picked up at the same cultural center. «Winds from Latin America», on Tuesday 12, offers works by Víctor Simón, Gerardo Di Giusto, Astor Piazzola and Arturo Márquez, and «Small ensembles in concert», on Wednesday 13, proposes pieces by Camille Saint Saens, Antonio Vivaldi, Victor Simon and Astor Piazzolla. Another interesting alternative for children is the musical show “Symphonic Animaladas” with the Provincial Symphonic Band and the Children’s Comedyfor Friday the 15th and Saturday the 16th, at 5 p.m., in the Rhea Theaterl, San Jerónimo 66. With the general direction of maestro Andrés Acosta, the repertoire contains pieces from the album «Songs with legs, ears, beaks and tails», by Guillo Bonaparte and Music piles us up, and «Of animals and other songs» , from Coqui Dutto. Distinguished in the Best Musical Theater category with the Siripo Prize for Performing Arts, the play features the participation of the singer-songwriter Coqui Dutto and the trio La musica nos amontona.

The Youth Academic Orchestra returns to the stage Liberator Theater, on Sunday 31, at 8 pm, with “Academic Reunion”. Under the direction of maestro Luis Gorelik, the organization performs Piotr’s “Symphony No. 5”. I. Tchaikovsky, and the «Concerto for two violins KV. 190», Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, with the outstanding participation of the violinists Pablo López and Mauro Asís.

ballet returns
“Swan Lake” goes on stage on Friday the 15th, Saturday the 16th, Sunday the 17th and Tuesday the 19th, at 8 pm, with a performance by Official Ballet of the Province. The choreography is by the teacher Laura Fiorucci, artistic director of the company, based on the original by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov. The music is by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

Contemporary dance
In another aspect of dance, on Tuesday 26, at 11 o’clock, “El grandson maximum” is staged, a new installment of the cycle of performative dissertations with “Young-Body-Dance”. This new edition will be in charge of Darío Rodríguez -teacher of the Nora Irinova Dance Seminar- and Máximo Nieto -member of the contemporary dance company “La Bajadita” and intermediate student of the seminar-. During the course, Nieto will tell about his personal experience in this discipline and will dance a choreography created for this occasion.
